Elizabeth Douglass White (Betsy) died peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. A native Oklahoman, Betsy was born on May 19,1928 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was predeceased by her parents, Orl Hubert (OH) and Octavia Parchman Douglass and her younger siblings Marion Octavia Swaim (Mary O) and Orl Hubert Doulass III (Sandy).

Elizabeth Douglass White (Betsy) died peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. A native Oklahoman, Betsy was born on May 19,1928 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was predeceased by her parents, Orl Hubert (OH) and Octavia Parchman Douglass and her younger siblings Marion Octavia Swaim (Mary O) and Orl Hubert Doulass III (Sandy).
After graduating from Okmulgee High School, Betsy attended the University of Oklahoma. She earned her degree in Elementary Education from OU, class of 1950, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Upon graduation Betsy taught elementary school for over 25 years and made many lifelong friends.
She was a longtime active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She volunteered in many capacities at the church, as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Care Team and mobile meals.
Betsy's strong convictions and dedication never waned. She was a proud OU graduate and member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She loved to give her time and was eager to help any organization that she supported. Through her many volunteer activities she made many cherished friends.
She was a past member of many philanthropic organizations, the Oklahoma City Orchestra League, Oklahoma City Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta,and Oklahoma City Alumnae Panhellenic Association to name a few.
As a friend wrote, "Betsy's legacy will live on forever through Panhellenic scholarships she initiated while a Theta delegate." To date, Panhellenic has awarded 185 scholarships because of Betsy's efforts.
Betsy is survived by and was happily married to her husband Millar B. White Jr. (Bud) for 49 years.
She is also survived by her three children, Susan Harris Edwards (Mike), Robert Graham Harris (Crosby), Ann White Hill (Greg); her 11 grandchildren Ryan Edwards, Rick Harris, Sam Harris, Sheridan Harris Gruber (Rob), Helen Harris Perry (John), Meridith Harris Price (David), Mark Harris, Joe Harris, Lindsey, Sarah and Katherine Hill and two great grand-children Henry and Helen Gruber.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow in the garden court.
